How do I change or pause my contributions?

Changing contribution amounts

From your paycheque 

If you're contributing through payroll deductions and wish to change your contribution amount, follow these steps:

1. Log into your account
2. On the "Plan" section of your dashboard, click on “View details” below the current contribution amount
3. Press “Cancel” and confirm that you want to stop your contribution
4. Click on ”Start contributing” to reset your payroll contributions 

If you make a change to payroll contributions, your employer will receive any changes you’ve requested. Changes will be dependent on your company’s payroll cycle and timelines.

From your bank account 

If you're contributing from your bank account, follow these steps:

1. Log into your account
2. On the "Plan" section of your dashboard, select “Edit” next to your current contribution amount
3. If you are not changing your current contribution amount, simply click “Continue”
4. Press “Edit” and adjust your TFSA/RRSP contribution split

Note that there is a month-end cutoff for any changes you make. 

Transactions marked as pending in your “Upcoming Transactions” section of your “Accounts” page can no longer be updated or changed.

Pausing contributions

From your paycheque 

If you're contributing through payroll deductions and wish to stop your upcoming contributions, follow these steps:

1. Log into your account
2. On the "Plan" section of your dashboard, click on “View details” below the current contribution amount
3. Press “Cancel” and confirm that you want to stop your contribution

If you suspend payroll contributions because of a leave from work or other reason, your request will be sent to your employer. You can choose to continue contributing to the plan through automatic withdrawals from your bank account, if you already have this set up.

From your bank account 

If you're contributing from your bank account, follow these steps:

1. Log into your account
2. On the "Plan" section of your dashboard, select “Cancel” next to your current contribution amount

Note that you must cancel your scheduled contribution before the end of the month to ensure next month's contribution does not come out of your bank account. You will still be a member of the plan and can continue to make contributions or restart your savings plan at any time.

Changing TFSA and RRSP contribution split

If you’re looking to change the contribution split between your TFSA and RRSP, you can easily make this adjustment in your plan.

From your paycheque

If you’re contributing through payroll deductions and wish to adjust this contribution split, follow these steps:

1. Log into your account
2. On the "Plan" section of your dashboard, click on “View details” below the current contribution amount
3. Press “Cancel” and confirm that you want to stop your contribution
4. Click on ”Start contributing” to reset your payroll contributions amount and TFSA/RRSP split
