Step 1: Create your account
Open this link: https://app.my65plus.ca/create-account
- Enter your email address in all lowercase letters, and click "Start."
- Create a password. Be sure to remember it. Click "Next."
- A verification code will be sent to your email address. Do not close the enrollment tab. Find the code in your inbox, enter it on the enrollment page, and click "Next."
- Click "Let's Go."
For Paramed Employees:
- Enter your Paramed email address in all lowercase letters, and click “Start”
- Create a password. Be sure to remember it. Click “Next”.
- A verification code will be sent to the provided email address. Do not close the enrollment tab.
- Find the code in your email inbox, enter it on the enrollment page, and click “Next”Â
- Click “Let’s Go”
Step 2: Your eligibility for the plan
- Check off the box that says "I confirm that I'm eligible to join this plan."
- Click "Save and Continue" in the bottom right-hand corner.
Step 3: "Let's get to know you"
- Enter your first, last, and if applicable, middle name.
- Select your marital status from the drop-down menu.
- Enter your phone number.
- Click "Save and Continue" in the bottom right-hand corner.
Step 4: "Let's plan for your retirement"
- Enter the age when you're planning to retire (an approximation is fine).
- Enter your date of birth in the following format: MM/DD/YYYY.
- Select your gender from the drop-down menu.
- Click "Save and Continue" in the bottom right-hand corner.
Step 5: "Let's set a target retirement income"
- Enter your annual income (an approximation is fine). You can find this on the T4 slips provided by your employer(s). If you're unsure, take your monthly income and multiply it by 12.
- No other action is required on this page.
- Click "Save and Continue" in the bottom right-hand corner.
Step 6: "Let's estimate your government benefits"
- If you've lived in Canada since you were 18, leave the toggle at "Yes."
- If you arrived in Canada after the age of 18, switch the toggle to "No" and enter the age when you started living in Canada.
- You don't need to edit any other numbers on this page. The OAS, GIS, and CPP figures shown are estimates only.
- Click "Save and Continue" in the bottom right-hand corner.
Step 7: "How much have you saved for retirement?"
- Leave everything blank, and click "Save and Continue" in the bottom right-hand corner.
Step 8: "Your investments"
- No action required here.
- Click "Save and Continue" in the bottom right-hand corner.
Step 9: "Review & confirm"
- Check off the indicated box, then click "Save and Continue" in the bottom right-hand corner.
Step 10: "Let's get the tax stuff out of the way"
- Enter your SIN with no dashes.
- Enter your address.
- Check off the box that says "I'm a Canadian resident for tax purposes."
- Click "Save and Continue" in the bottom right-hand corner.
Step 11: "Terms and Conditions"
- Check off the indicated box, and click "Save and Continue" in the bottom right-hand corner.
Step 12: Account created
Your account has been successfully created — the next steps will set up your contributions.
Step 13: Setting up contributions
- On the "Plan" tab, scroll down to the "My contributions" section and click the arrow next to "From bank."
Step 14: Contribution amount
- If you'd like to choose a different amount than what the system suggests, click "Choose a different amount" and type in the desired amount manually. This is the amount that will be withdrawn from your bank account each month.
- Make sure the auto-escalation toggle is off.
- Click "Continue" in the bottom right-hand corner.
Step 15: Account split
- Select whether you'd like your contributions to go into an RRSP, a TFSA, or a mix of the two. Use the "Edit" button to change the default setting.
- General recommendation: if your income is less than $50,000, you are likely better off saving using a TFSA.
- Click "Continue" in the bottom right-hand corner.
Step 16: Banking details
- Enter your bank account details. The account number needs to be entered twice (lines 3 & 4). This is the bank account we will be withdrawing from each month.
- Click "Continue" in the bottom right-hand corner.
Step 17: Review and accept
- Check off the two indicated boxes, and click "Accept my new plan" in the bottom right-hand corner.
